About
Welcome to the culinary haven of Kim Kee Nasi Ayam Hailam, a delightful establishment nestled in the vibrant Ampang District of Selangor, Malaysia. This Chinese eatery is tucked away in a lively medan selera (food court) beside the Petronas, making it a bustling hotspot for both locals and visitors alike seeking an authentic chicken rice experience.
At Kim Kee, the star of the show is undoubtedly their signature Nasi Ayam Hailam. Diners are presented with a choice between succulent steamed or roasted chicken, each prepared to perfection. I can personally vouch for the roasted chicken breast, which is gloriously tender and bursting with flavor. Accompanied by vibrant taugeh (bean sprouts) and a bowl of deliciously clear soup, every bite feels like a comforting hug from home.
The ambiance here strikes a perfect balance; it's moderately noisy, creating an energetic atmosphere that's ideal for enjoying meals with family or friends. With its convenient takeout, delivery options, and credit card acceptance, Kim Kee caters to every need, ensuring that everyone can indulge in their mouthwatering offerings.
If you find yourself in the area during peak lunch hours, be prepared for a crowd. The popularity of this chicken rice shop is well-earned, as evidenced by the swift service that manages to keep up with the bustling activity. However, securing a seat may require a little patience, adding to the lively dining experience.
To cool down from the Malaysian heat, I highly recommend pairing your meal with their refreshing iced Chinese tea. It perfectly complements the rich flavors of the chicken rice, enhancing the overall dining experience. Whether you're a first-timer or a returning patron, every visit to Kim Kee Nasi Ayam Hailam promises to be a delightful culinary adventure.
In summary, Kim Kee Nasi Ayam Hailam offers a fantastic blend of accessibility, flavor, and a family-friendly atmosphere, making it an essential stop for any food lover exploring the vibrant scene of Malaysian cuisine. Don’t miss out on this gem!
“ Restaurant did not look so nice but the food were so good. Nver expected. We had spaghetti, Fish & chip Mushrooms soup, onion soup.Portion quite generous. We also quite full. They didn't have enough staff, if you are too hungry better find another place especially dinner time. Must try.. ”
“ During our first visit on Saturday night around 8 PM, my boyfriend and I discovered that the chicken rice was sold out. Instead, we ordered some Western food, which was really delicious and I loved the mashed potatoes! However, the downside was that the service was quite slow, and there were many empty tables stacked with dirty dishes. However, on my second visit with my family on weekdays, I could taste the nasi ayam and the service was not that slow compared to the first visit. Overall, I would love to come again for their nasi ayam and for the western cause its so good ”
“ KIM KEE Nasi Ayam Hailam might sound like your typical Chinese-style eatery, but don’t let the name fool you — this place is fully halal and proudly caters to everyone, whether you’re Malay, Chinese, Indian, or anything in between. A smart and inclusive business move that’s clearly working well for them. While the name suggests Hainanese chicken rice as the star (and yes, it’s on the menu), the surprise is their wide variety, including Western dishes that give everyone at the table something to enjoy. My brother and I went for the Western grilled chicken — a real throwback to classic Malaysian-style “Western food,” complete with broccoli, corn, mashed potatoes, and carrots. It’s that local version of Western cuisine we grew up with — simple, comforting, and familiar. Not trying to be fancy, just good ol’ hearty fare. My brother raved about their Beef Wellington, which he tried with my niece on a previous visit. According to him, it was surprisingly superb — though I didn’t get to try it since I’ve stopped eating beef these days. Overall, KIM KEE is a down-to-earth spot for a satisfying meal with mates or family. Nothing pretentious, just thoughtful food that caters to every taste — and every community. A place that feeds both the stomach and the spirit. ”
“ We had dinner with family and really enjoyed the food. The quality was great, and the prices were reasonable. It’s a cozy spot for a casual meal with loved ones. Only downside—parking was a bit tricky to find, so plan ahead if you're driving. ”
“ Reach to the store around 3pm. Quite slow to serve my order. For me, rice nothing special not fragrant enough, but for chicken part I think it’s better than normal Chinese store, which they give u a real part of the chicken, not small piece of maybe breast meat then flatten it to look big in portion. Mostly Malay customers when I was there. Price for normal part of chicken rice is rm8.50 which worth to try. ”
“ This chicken rice shop that's located in a 'medan selera' (food court) beside Petronas Ampang is probably one of my favorite places to go for chicken rice. It's fairly popular among those familiar with the area, so on some days it can get pretty busy, especially during peak lunch hours. Parking then can sometimes be a problem. Service is quite fast, but you might have to wait for a place to sit. The chicken rice here is halal - you can either choose the steamed or roasted. I always go for roasted chicken breast, which comes with taugeh/bean sprouts - and oh so yummy! The free soup that comes with the chicken rice is also tasty. I usually go for the simple iced Chinese tea (because this place is quite hot) - and it all adds up to a perfect lunch. ”
